How to Tell if There is Porn on Your Computer
Suspect your computer may be used to view porn or other inappropriate material? TopTenREVIEWS shows you how to check your computer for the tale tell signs of pornography and how to get rid of it.
The names of pornographic websites are usually pretty obvious. The history will also provide you with links to every website visited. You can clear your history of unwanted sites by select the option that says 'clear internet history'. Another way to see if pornography is stored on your computer is to do an image search. Click on start and select the 'search' option. Then select the option that says 'pictures, music, or video'. Then select 'pictures and photos', leave the search field blank and windows will bring up every image stored on your hard drive. You can then scroll down the list of thumb nails to see if there are any inappropriate pictures saved to your computer. Getting pictures off your computer is easy, just drag them into the recycle bin and empty it. The third way to check your system for the signs it's been to view pornography is by checking temporary internet files. Open windows explorer and type in C:\windows\temp\temporary internet files. This folder keeps all the files associated with web browsing. If your computer has been used to surf porn sites, images and cookies will be stored in this folder. To learn how to safely remove these files, watch our video on cookie removal. If you do find the tale tell signs of pornography on your system, you need to perform a virus scan immediately. Internet porn and computer viruses go hand in hand. If there are pornographic images on your system, there is a high probability that your computer is infected with a virus. The problem with these detection methods is that the files you are looking for are easily hidden or deleted. If your search turns up nothing but you still suspect your computer of being used to view porn, or other inappropriate material. I would suggest installing monitoring software. TopTenREVIEWS has rated and ranked all the best monitoring software on the market, like our Gold Award winner, Spector Pro.
